All of the sections heard on this album were taken from the original optical music tracks \nas recorded by the orchestra, with the exception of the opening Main Title, band 1, and the Finale, \nband 9. In order to maintain the exact secuence of this magnificent score as heard in the picture\nand to keep "Tara's Theme" intact, we had to use less than optimum sound quality taken directly\nfrom a print of the film for these two selections.\nThere has been a deterioration in the soundtrack from the print over the 43 years since \nGONE WITH THE WIND was made. It was felt that you, the buyer of this album, would prefer \nto have the original, albeit with poor sound, rather than any substitutions.\n\nWe have added several elements from the soundtrack not heard before on any album. These are, \nin order of appearance - \n- David O. Selznick's music trademark at the beginning of Main Title\n- "The Ball" sequence including "Southern Belle Waltz", "Fall of the South"\n- Intermission music as recorded for the theatre in 1939 during the showing of Gone With The Wind\n-"Rhett and Bonnie" Music Box\n\nWe have attempted to create, from those elements still available, the best possible authentic \nreproduction of the original soundtrack of what is still today the greatest epic in motion picture history.\n\nRon Eyre - 1983
