Shaun Cassidy: Shaun Cassidy Greatest Hits CD Track Listing
Shaun Cassidy
Shaun Cassidy Greatest Hits (1992)
Originally Released July 14, 1992\n\nAMG EXPERT REVIEW: Curb's 12-track Greatest Hits contains all of Shaun Cassidy's biggest hits, including "Da Doo Ron Ron," "That's Rock 'n' Roll," "Hey Deanie" and "Do You Believe in Magic." While the minor hit "Our Night" is omitted, the remainder of the collection is devoted to entertainingly lightweight originals from Cassidy ("Hard Love," "Teen Dream," "Break for the Street") and covers of the Who's "So Sad About Us" and Ian Hunter's "Once Bitten, Twice Shy," making it a representative and enjoyable overview of Cassidy's brief run as a teen idol. \n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nTEEN DREAM, TEEN DREAM, oooh, oh yeah!, January 9, 2004 \nReviewer: Clint Greer (Fruitport, MI United States)\nI grew up with 2 older sisters, and Shaun Cassidy is one of the first people I remember listening to, mainly, "Da Doo Ron Ron", "Teen Dream" and "Do You Believe In Magic". So his music has always had a very, very special place in my heart. It reminds me of being a kid and being carefree. I was born the year "Da Doo Ron Ron" came out, but I grew up on his albums anyway. Though this album is very short, it has all the main hits on it, it still is a great listen although some of the lesser known songs such as "Walk Away", "Carolina's Comin' Home" and "Taxi Dancer", to name a very few, would have been nice to have on cd, since NOTHING else of his has been released on cd, I wish they would remaster and reissue all of Shaun's albums because I have had to keep replacing my Shaun records, which in my opinion the best two are SHAUN CASSIDY and BORN LATE (though UNDER WRAPS is a very close 3rd), because they keep getting worn out! But until that happens, this collection (even though it's bare-bones essentials) is the next best thing.\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nA Bit Short Sighted, August 21, 2002\nReviewer: David N. Winer (Oak Park, Michigan United States)\nC'Mon Now! There's more to Shaun Cassidy's Recording Career than the Hits! Just as there's more to Shaun Cassidy than starring in 'The Hardy Boys'!\nThere are a lot of overlooked gems, particularily from the first album, such as "Amblin'", "Take Good Care Of My Baby", "I Wanna Be With You" and "Be My Baby". And even the poignant and melodic "Morning Girl" has its charm. And where's "It's Up To You", "Strange Sensation", "Walk Away", "Audrey", "Baby, Baby, Baby" and "A Girl Like You" from the even better, in fact, BEST second album, BORN LATE? And didn't he do a version of The Who's "I Can't Explain" from the Todd Rundgren Produced WASP album? "Taxi Dancer" and even Bill La Bounty's "Lie To Me" from UNDER WRAPS are good, too. Enough to fill TWO discs? Enough to give the young girls, teenybopper admirers, teen idol fans and those he's such a heart throb (and hottie) to their Money's Worth! And really give an IN-DEPTH look at his career MUSICALLY! Not just a showcase of a "New Kid On The Block Of Its Time". And an Autographed Pin-Up Poster Suitable For Framing probably wouldn't hurt, either.\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nEssential Part of 1970s Teen Scene, June 29, 2001\nReviewer: Michael Mathena "Michael Mathena" (Parma Heights, OH USA)\nIf you remember the days of bell-bottoms, humungous belt buckles, bouncing & behaving hair and peace-sign-necklaces, then you may still hear Shaun Cassidy's carefree songs ringing from the 8-track player in the far corner of your nostalgic mind. "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "That's Rock And Roll" sounded pretty good to me then, and these songs still get me humming along today. Check out the fantastic low price for this CD and take a trip back to the Summer of '76, with us on CD today and forever!\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nA nice blast from the past!!!!, August 19, 1999\nReviewer: A music fan\nIf you remember lava lamps, disco bars, bellbottoms, or even the hottest movies like "Star Wars" playing in theatres, then you must remember Shaun Cassidy! One of the hottest and busiest superstars of that seventies decade! I've got all of his records. The first track on this CD is a cover of the Crystals golden oldie "Da Doo Ron Ron", a song which he originally sang on an episode of his T.V. series "The Hardy Boys Mysteries", playing Joe Hardy with his rock n' roll band at the local disco. It became a real hit for him and reached to number 1! Other songs I like on here are "Break For the Street","Hard Love",and a Beach Boys flavoured tune "Teen Dream", all of which he originally wrote. His cover songs I like are "Hey Deanie" and "That's Rock N' Roll", both cover songs by Eric Carmen. I also like "Cool Fire" and "Once Bitten Twice Shy", both of those songs were from his last solo release in which he tried to change his image into a harder kind of rocker and he also hired Todd Rundren to produce and play on his album along with his other band "Utopia", but his pop moment already passed. He mostly pursued an acting career and appeared in T.V. shows and on and off Broadway theatre productions. His T.V. work include starring in the short lived "Breaking Away"(1980-81) and a stint on the soap "General Hospital"(1987). His T.V. movies include "Like Normal People"(1979),"Once Upon A Texas Train"(1987),and "Roots: The Gift"(1988). His guest starring roles include "Matlock"(2-parts),"Murder She Wrote" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." His on and off numerous Broadway shows include "Mass Appeal","Pass/Fail","Diary of a Hunger Strike","Bus Stop"(with model/actress Jerry Hall), etc. Even though he no longer records solo albums he did star with Petula Clark and his older half brother David in the Broadway tour of "Blood Brothers", in which a soundtrack album was released as well. He then went on to producing and creating T.V. shows such as "American Gothic" and "Roar." Listen to the CD, and remember his years of fame and fortune of his music that was around the same era of other teen rock idols like John Travolta, Andy Gibb, Leif Garrett, Bay City Rollers, and Rex Smith.\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nAttention: Shaun Cassidy Fans, June 21, 1998\nReviewer: A music fan\nThe cream of the crop for the singer-actor-teen idol who scored a few big hits in a short period, including the #1, "Da Doo Ron Ron." Eric Carmen fans will get a kick out of Cassidy's takes on "Hey Deanie" and "That's Rock 'n' Roll." Great sound, and since it's tough to find these songs anywhere else ("Da Doo Ron Ron" is particularly elusive), get this CD while you can!\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nThe lesser known, but more talented Cassidy, May 14, 1998\nReviewer: A music fan\nOK - so it's all relative, but Shaun is a bigger talent than David, and this CD bears that out. There are a couple tunes you will recognize from the late 70's along with some others that will be new. Somewhat cheesy, but great party fare.\n\nHalf.com Album Notes\nProducers: Michael Lloyd, Todd Rundgren, Shaun Cassidy.Includes liner notes by Don Ovens and Judy Hopkins.
