Born Paul Gadd in Banbury, Oxfordshire 8th May 1944.\n\nThe undisputed King of Glam Rock went through\nmany identities including Paul Raven and Paul Monday\n\nHe was a production assistant on the TV show\n'Ready, Steady Go' in 1965 and appeared on the\noriginal album of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' alongside\nMurray Head and Yvonne Elliman. His breakthrough\ncame with the single 'Rock & Roll (Parts 1 & 2)' which\nwas intended as a one-off, but reached number two\nin the UK charts, many other chart hits followed.\n\nGlitter says that the secret of his success was the \ncombination of pure rock and roll with a touch of\nPhil Spector thrown in to make the unique "Glitter" \nsound. \n\nHis autobiography 'The Leader' was\npublished in 1991, he still remains one of the best\nloved and most charismatic characters on the\nBritish pop scene.
