Not exactly. Maturity? Hell,\nno. \n"I'll never talk to you again, unless your dad will suck me off / I'll\nnever talk to you again, unless your mom will touch my cock," sings bassist-vocalist\nMark Hoppus on "Happy Holidays," one of many absolutely absurd, yet undeniably\naddictive tracks on Jacket. "Break a window and bust a wall / Making fun\nof your friend's mom / Turn the music up way too loud / Charge a pizza\nto the house," he sings on "Reckless Abandon." \nBlink-182 sticks to the winning formula of past efforts Dude Ranch and\nEnema of the State on Jacket, an extremely well-produced, hard-hitting\nexercise in pre-pubescent punk rock that will no doubt sell millions to\nthrongs of misguided juveniles who relate to the band's piss takes on life's\neveryday miseries.\n"Anthem Part Two" kicks off the fun with a tag-team assault consisting\nof a huge guitar riff from Delonge and a pounding drum courtesy of Travis\nBarker. The tune is serious by Blink standards and even touches on misplaced\nyouth ("We really need to see this through / We never wanted to be absurd\n/ We'll never give up, it's no use / If we're fucked up, you're to blame")\nin the chorus.\n"Online Song," "First Date," "Happy Holidays," "Roller Coaster," "Every\nTime I Look at You," "Give Me One Good Reason," "Shut Up," and the first\nsingle, "The Rock Show," all exploit the Blink-182 trademark sound of catchy\nhooks carried by throttling punk riffs and pounding sonic attacks -- a\nsound that Blink and producer Jerry Finn (who also worked on Enema) have\nall but copyrighted by now.\n"Stay Together for the Kids" is the album's one departure, albeit not much\nof one. A soothing, hushed vocal from bassist-vocalist Mark Hoppus starts\nthe track off before an exploding guitar tidal wave quickly brings the\ntune back into typical Blink territory.
