The AHB material appeared on a number of different LPs back in the early \n1970s. The most common sources are the three AHB volume 1,2, & 3 LPs. \nThe original LPs\nwere released on the Sagapan label. Sagapan seems to have released these \nin two different press runs. The LPs are sub-standard quality.\n\nSometime after the Sagapan LPs were released, they were re-issued by the \n(pirate?) Joker label. These LPs feature the same material as the Sagapan \nLPs, but with\ninferior sound quality and slightly revised front cover art (same portrait \nof Jimi, but different background color around the photo). For some odd \nreason they chose\nnot to remove the "Sagapan" logo, so covers have both the Sagapan and \nJoker logos.\n\nBesides the AHB vol.1,2,3 LPs, Sagapan also released another AHB LP without \nany volume number. It consists of a subset of the songs found on the vol1-3 \nLPs, but\nwith different song names, and yet another mix/EQ. Besides the Sagpan \nand Joker LPs, the AHB material also appeared on a few LPs, the most noteworthy \nof which is the "This Flyer" boot containing portions of jams 1,2,3, & \n4.\n\nAll the LPs suffer from problems related to the source tapes, the LP mastering, \nand the pressing quality. Many of the pops/clicks/crackles appear in the \nsame place\non different copies/versions of the LPs. Some of them seem to be microphone/switch \nnoises, but others seem to have arisen due to the poor quality of the \nmastering\nand pressing (wear & damage to the stampers?).\n\nRemastered from the best available sources, this set contains all the \njams/songs found on the various LPs, although where possible, tracks have \nbeen spliced back together to create as-complete-as-possible continuous \ncomposites. All tracks have been EQed, speed corrected and declicked. \nDue to the different mixes and EQing found on the raw LPs, the source \nchanges on the composite tracks are often quite noticeable.\n\nThe best sounding version of each track was used; that is, the best mix/EQ \nas well as the best available LP copy.
