Actually, it was the title track that was a carbon-copy of "Owner," so maybe that was the problem. More likely, though, "Owner" was a one-shot (courtesy of producer Trevor Horn), and as Yes asserted itself more here, they reverted more to their old style, making for some confusion. Nevertheless, this album was the group's last major hit. -- William Ruhlmann\n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nDidn't the 80's suck?, February 15, 2002 \nReviewer: A music fan from Crestone, CO \nIn the 80's Jon took a back seet to a more pop style of rock and Yes paid the price. This album hints at the Yes we know and love but only in some parts and is killed in the chanting of BIG GENERATOR!! Its annoying at some times but a good album and is a good attempt to reclaim respect. If you want this album get 90125, they are the two albums that are very close in sound. If you like the 'Jon' version of Yes, they got good when they released 'Talk'. 'Union' was too flashy for Jon and should have waited untill ABWH released another album. \n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nIt's Yes, Jim, But Not As We Know It, January 6, 2000 \nReviewer: Matthew D Pavletich from New Zealand \nA more cohesive-sounding effort than 90125, with a diamond-hard, icy finish to many of the songs. With the exception of "Final Eyes" and "Holy Lamb", the whole production is a teeny bit lacking in warmth. But the pure strength of compositions such as "Love Will Find A Way", "I'm Running" and the majestic "Shoot High, Aim Low" make this album a satisfying experience in the long run. "Shoot High, Aim Low" is the first prog-rock related song to break new ground in years and can legitimately be viewed as a modern masterpiece. Atmospheric, brooding, blessed with rich vocal harmonies, Jon Anderson at the top of his considerable range, and Gilmour/Floyd-like guitar from Rabin make this tune almost worth the price of admission alone. Squire's racing, clanky Rickenbacker bass launches the Latin-flavoured "I'm Running", which is a pretty neat song in its' own right. Good Points: Some strong material, impressive musicianship with Rabin, Squire and White playing as a watertight trio. Bad Points: Took nearly 5 years to follow 90125. Not till 1994's "TALK" was this album bettered. My actual rating for "Big Generator" is 3.5 stars, but the Amazon rating system doesn't show that. So I'd always rather round the rating up to be nice to the band! \n\nAmazon.com Customer Review\nbrilliant follow-up to 90125, but hated by YES purists, March 20, 2001 \nReviewer: calvin93 from Princeton, NJ \nI love listening to Big Generator straight through, and it didn't leave my cassette player (remember them?) in 1987 & 1988. This album is dominated by Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin influence (love songs, top 40 format) and is understandably disliked by the Yes purists who view 1974's Tales From Topographic Oceans as good music... so to each his own. But if you liked 90125, you will like Big Generator as well. RHYTHM OF LOVE, leading off the album, sounds like it might have BEEN on 90125, with good hook, powerful drums and guitaring in a hard rock (for the 80s) fashion. The title track BIG GENERATOR is a little weak but it gets you to the album standout, SHOOT HIGH AIM LOW - which is actually two songs in one. Rabin's moody guitar work sets a memorable tone for th
