Marillion (1994-03-20) FRC-030 - PC69, Bielefeld, Germany - 20 March 1994 (2005)
Album Information:\nThe band are on good form, and in quite a chatty mood throughout.\n\nIn addition to the complete performance of Brave the show also features a few extra encores to the standard Brave Tour selection.\n\nThis is a complete show, and all speaking between songs is included.\n========================\nAudio Quality:\nAfter listening through to several complete Brave shows, this was one of the best we came across. While we were selecting this show, Steve Rothery even commented on how good it sounded!\n\nBand Audio Rating: 8/10\n\nRelease Details\nRecorded 20 March 1994 at PC69 in Bielefeld, Germany, to 2-track (stereo) digital tape.\n\nThis release shipped 9 November 2005\n===========================\nCredits:\n\nWelcome to the Front Row Club!\n\nThis recording was made as a reference for ourselves while touring and as an archive of our live performance - it was never planned to be released. We have taken the original recording and 'mastered' it to provide a better sonic experience, however it has not been re-touched or overdubbed in any way. This recording is provided "as is" - warts and all - for your listening pleasure, so please keep this in mind when listening!\n\nThe Front Row Club is intended for those with "Front Row" passion for the band and it's touring history. And, of course, the future! Thank you for sharing your passion with us. \n\nThe PC69 is a funky little club. There are tables set up outside the gig in case the weather's nice. Normally we get there around 9am with the crew, and the staff usually make a good breakfast which we eat outside in the morning sunshine whilst watching the traffic speeding by. On this occasion I think we'd arrived the day before and stayed in a hotel. Alone again in the lap of luxury.\n\nWhen we first came to think about performing "Brave" I had a bit of a dilemma. Many of the songs were written from the point of view of a girl, so to perform them I had to make this clear somehow. For instance, to perform "Hard As Love" from the male perspective would make it mean something else entirely -- something quite unpleasant and violent. The same song from a female perspective is no less violent, but more reactive. The only thing I could do was dress up!\n\nI was a little reluctant to "get theatrical" because of the inevitable comparisons with Peter Gabriel and Fish (something I'm a little sensitive about!) but the music and the subject matter gave me no alternative. If I'm honest I was also privately quite excited at the prospect. I like dressing up. You've probably noticed. If the vocal sounds a little garbled here and there, it's probably because I'm tearing-up roses, being attacked by men in balaclavas, trying to put my hair in pigtails, daubing my lips with flourescent orange lipstick or struggling to lossen the "Union Jack" tie I'm wearing with the gold suit. Happy days.\n\nh\n\nFront Row Club Issue 30\nPC69, Bielefeld, Germany\nBrave Tour, 20 March 1994\n\nFront Row Club releases are supplied to members on the understanding that these recordings will not be duplicated.\nwww.marillion.com/frontrow\n\nFront of House Engineer Chris 'Privet' Hedge\nMastered for the Front Row Club by Erik Nielsen\n\nDesign by Erik Nielsen for Wing Nut Music\nPolaroid Photography (c) Luigi Colasanti Antonelli\nAdditional Photography by Colin Price\n\nFind a Better Way of Life at marillion.com \n
