The brainchild of producer Bill Wellings (following his successful sixties Top Six EP label), the Hot Hits series hit the album charts in 1971 and sold hundreds of thousands of copies before the series ended in 1973. Elton John, Tina Charles, Big Jim Sullivan, Larry Adler (and allegedly David Bowie) all lent their talents as hired session musicians and singers.Now much collected for their sporty themed girlie sleeves.
