The Muggers Tapes (1993)
In1978 a band called Muggers began rehearsing at the legendary Rainbow Theatre in London. Muggers comprised of "Fast" Eddie Clarke (guitar) and Phil "Animal" Taylor (drums) from Motorhead, Billy Wrath (bass) from Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers and John "Speedy" Keen on vocals and guitars.\nReady to hit the road the Muggers embarked on a few dates with Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood) and the invitation of playing at a party for Lady Reading arose.\nThe band accepted and once the gig was in place Eddie, confident of the band's material, hired the Manor Mobile Studio to record this particular birthday show for Lady Alexandria Reading deep in the Oxfordshire countryside and here it is...warts and all.\nThis is British rock and roll history which has never been heard before and after being locked away in the vaults for over 15 years only now does the music see the light of day.\nThese 8 tracks consist of five original Muggers songs with a few of the band's favourite rock and roll songs including a startling version of the Neil Young number, Cinammon Girl.\nTake it for what it is, a raw, exciting and inspiring set never to be heard or performed again.
