The third quarter of 1998 saw the release of a very exciting album, namely the \n"Electric" cd by the Norwegian electro-acoustic composer Arne Nordheim \n'transformed' or rather remixed by Biosphere and Deathprod. This remix \nalbum was released both as a single album and in a limited edition pack which\n also included the original 1974 masterpiece by Arne Nordheim himself.\nAs to the album "Electric" itself, Arne Nordheim shows that already back in \n1974, a electronica composer could manage well with the new timbre \npossibilities that this part of musical history presented and not only \nproduce the first few blind-shots of the composer experimenting with \nsomething new and unknown. This album clearly proves Arne Nordheim \nmust have had specific ideas which could in fact only, or maybe more ideally, \nbe solved with the new range of timbres. The expressive in Nordheim's \nmusic is not only shown through the aftermaths of the Romantic timbres \nmeeting the modern technology studio-works, but also through the debt \nhe portrays owing to the "polish school". To elaborate, this branch was\n illustrated through Lutoslawskis floating and pulsating myriad of timbres, \nPendereckis blocks of sounds together with the Hungarian Ligetis' teeming \nmicro-polyphony.
