The musicians in BLUE RONDO are Kevin Hunt piano, Don Reid saxophone, Dieter Vogt bass and Martin Highland drums.\n\nKevin has long been associated with jazz elder Don Burrows. He has vast experience in performing, recording, leading and participating in all forms of music and its pedagogy. Extensive research in piano repertoire over recent years has seen him featured in duet settings with such luminaries as Judy Bailey and Simon Tedeschi.\n\nDon was in at the inception of the ground breaking, Australian jazz fusion band "Crossfire" in the 70's. He has an all original CD, To the River Again (assisted by The Australia Council). Don's playing career, through many genres, usually reflects inspiration from Paul Desmond.\n\nDieter Vogt has earned an excellent reputation for his work with the country's finest bands. His bass has been the choice of jazz veterans such as Grahame Bell and Bob Barnard. He swings the Big Band of Bobby Darin style vocalist, Paul Griffith. Don also plays in that unit.\n\nMartin has played modern jazz with the best locally and had the privilege of studying with the Brubeck quartet's drummer, Joe Morello. He is well represented also on many recordings of creative music.\n\nBLUE RONDO'S repertoire is sourced from the recordings: 'TIME OUT', 'TIME FURTHER OUT','SOUTHERN SCENE', 'WEST SIDE STORY' and similar sources. \n\nIt is with a fond respect for the originals that we play this program and acknowledge it to be, along with the art of George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Miles Davis, a notable part of the American musical heritage in which we share. \n\nPlayed by Don Reid on saxophone, Kevin Hunt on piano, Dieter Vogt on bass and on drums, Martin Highland.\n \nRecorded at Cranbrook School 20th April 2006 by \n"Sound on Safari" live to 8 track. \n\nRecording engineer: Ross Ahearne
