However, when it's time to listen to "Distant Drums", this album has an unparalleled healing power. Jim Reeves' voice defines the term "velvety". This is a must for anyone prone to depression. Get "Distant Drums" and throw out your Prozac!\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nJim Reeves at his best, September 14, 2001\nReviewer: Bradley Olson (Bemidji, MN United States)\nThis album originally came out on RCA in 1966, compiled from songs recorded from 1957-1964 and 1964 was the year he died. Some of the biggest hits on here include title song, "Is It Really Over" and "I Missed Me," "Snow Flake." Other classics on the album include "Overnight," "This Is It," and "I Missed Me." It is definitely worth buying if you are looking for more Jim Reeves music besides a hits compilation. It is definitely a classic, of course, the one and only Chet Atkins produced it and is a must have for Jim's fans.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\njim reeves number one song in 1966 was distant drums. it kno, September 25, 1999\nReviewer: pdolsen@webtv.net (usa)\nThe number one song in 1966 was Distant Drums, an overdubbed demo recording that Jim recorded as a demo in 1961 that chet atkins said wasn't the right time to release that song because of the Vietnam war. The songwriter was Cindy Walker and when she went to RCA's studio with Mary Reeves and first heard Distant Drums she was totally shocked to hear an overdubbed version. Cindy wrote songs especially for Jim Reeves as Jim was her and the worlds favorite singer. Enjoy the most beautiful voice God ever gave to a human being. This song knocked the Beatles off the top of the charts in Britain and Jim forever will be remembered as the man who beat the Beatles.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nexcellent record, now a better CD, August 7, 1999\nReviewer: A music fan\nRemembering playing this album on my college radio station, now it brings back what country music was all about in the 1960's.
