A list by checkmate

Giles Swayne Cry (1994)
Giles Swayne (1946-)\nCry, for 28 solo voices and electronics, is an epic work that describes the creation myth, contrasting intricate rhythmic figures with huge arching phrases, and close dissonances with massive major chords.\nWritten for the BBC Singers, this epic piece for voices deals with the seven days of the Creation and culminates in the handover of the world to mankind. Cry is a celebration of life in all its aspects, achieved by an astonishing range of color, timbre and register. African influence is manifest in the laments and wails of the third and sixth movements and in the use of rhythm both thematically and structurally. Havoc, Swaynes' 1999 follow-up to this piece, examines what mankind has made of things ever since. \nRecorded by the ''BBC Singers'' and ''John Poole'' 1984. This recording was made on two linked 24 track machines, and originally mixed for LP and cassette in April 1985. In 1993 NMC mastered the CD based on an analogue master tape held by the Music Department of the Arts Council (tracks 1-6) and a virgin LP track 7.
This classical cd contains 7 tracks and runs 76min 16sec.
